What is teambuilding?

When teambuilding is mentioned, many companies imagine a pleasant day outside the office – for example, a trip to nature, lunch and a time when colleagues meet in an informal atmosphere. Others imagine an incentive trip for the best employee, full of experiences in interesting places in the Czech Republic or abroad. and honestly? Neither is wrong.

Such events have their place in the annual plan of company events. They help people slow down, get to know each other in a way that is different from just work tasks and meetings, and create a space for sharing.

What makes our activities different is their clear direction towards a predetermined goal. Together with the client, we first clarify what the team program should bring – it could be better communication, creating new bonds between colleagues, supporting cooperation across departments, preparing for changes in the company or strengthening the ability to solve problems with the transition to new company software.

This is where the biggest difference lies between a free meeting „over a beer“ and a controlled teambuilding program. In a targeted activity, they work together from start to finish on a specific topic. Every task, interaction and surprise has its own meaning and moves the team closer to the given goal. Thanks to this, the programs have greater depth, a stronger impact and often a longer-term benefit than just an evening meeting at the bowling alley.

The final debriefing also plays a big role. It is during this that we look back together on what happened during the activity, how the team functioned, what went naturally and where, on the contrary, the weaker moments appeared. Debriefing helps to name the positive and negative aspects and convert the experience into concrete knowledge that can be used in everyday work.
